Vivekanand is a musical play composed by Sunit Gupta. An accomplished Hollywood and Bollywood actor, Gupta has created this play with all his passion and experience.
"Vivekanand is my calling. The life of Swami Vivekanand is so similar to my own," narrates Gupta. "Both of us were born in Kolkata (India), we both have similar astrological birth-charts, we both had similar childhoods and circumstances. Furthermore, we both traveled to various places of the world and we both lived in California. Looking at the similarities, I felt that it would be fitting to create a wonderful English play on the miraculous Swami Vivekanand."
This 2 hour long play unfolds the stories of his childhood, the impact of Raja Ram Mohan Roy and brahma-samaj, his eagerness to find God, and his meeting of great Sri Ramkrisna Paramhansa. The unforgettable Chicago speech, which brought India and Hinduism in the spotlight in 1893, establishes his love for humanity and his view world as one huge, interconnected family.
